Palmer Street

Built in the 1960s, the Palmer Street units are an icon of Te Awamutu, and form part of our accommodation precinct for seniors alongside Freeman Court.

Palmer Street units are made up of two pensioner housing types: ‘single bedroom’ where the bedroom is separate from the lounge, kitchen and dining; and the ‘studio/bed sit’ style rooms where the bed sits within the lounge room. All tenants have access to the communal hall and library. Bond is two weeks. Internet and power is not included, therefore, the tenants will have to organise this with their preferred companies. The lawns are mowed by Habitat for Humanity, however, the tenant will be in charge of their garden. All you have to do is relax and garden til your hearts content.

To be eligible, you must be 60 years plus, in genuine need of housing, and be on the Ministry of Social Development housing register. To see if you are eligible to be added to the MSD register, contact Work and Income to organise a housing assessment.

History of Palmer Street

We know about your hectic schedule. We also know the only way you truly understand a subject is by practicing it in a real environment. This is why we’ve set a playground area that’s full of hours of exercises, questions and challenges. It even has a gaming section.
